Joie
de Vivre's Historic Hotel Montgomery readies for reopening.
Rehabilitation of the historic hotel will conclude
this spring in time for a June 18 opening. Its new operator, Joie de Vivre,
best describes this phenomenal building: The hotel was built in 1911 and was one of the finest hotels of its day. It closed in 1989 after suffering damage in the Loma Prieta Earthquake. In 2000, it became the largest building ever moved on rubber wheels as it slid 186 feet south to make room for the Fairmont Hotel Addition. The rehabilitated hotel will feature 86-rooms, Paragon as its destination restaurant, and bocce ball courts. |
